Tompkins County Public Library, 101 E. Green Street, Ithaca, New York, 14850, United States.

The course focuses on residential and commercial buildings, with regard to best practices for plan review and what energy information the plan reviewer should be looking for in the set of construction documents submitted for permitting.  The course format is a hands-on approach during which attendees will review building architectural plans and details, mechanical system submittals, and lighting design to verify that the proposed systems meet 2020 ECCCNYS requirements.  The course also reviews the different prescriptive and performance compliance options with illustrations of the software (REScheck and COMcheck) and output reports that are typically used.

The course then moves to field inspections with illustrations and diagrams of what the code official should be looking for during each phase of construction as well as review of test reports that should be received with respect to envelope air leakage and duct tightness.  In addition to being an excellent guide to code officials, the course is also useful to design professionals and builders so that they understand what information must be provided when submitting their application for a building permit.

About the Clean Energy Communities Program

Across the State, local governments are striving to create a healthy and sustainable environment by investing in future-focused clean energy solutions for their community, while at the same time facing unprecedented societal and financial challenges.

NYSERDA’s new Clean Energy Communities Leadership Round provides the resources and funding to help you successfully execute and achieve those goals. The CEC program includes a number of high-impact action items that carry CEC points that can add up to grant awards for your jurisdiction. Included as an action item is Energy Code Enforcement Training and Newport is proud to work with NYSERDA to offer Residential and Commercial Energy Code Courses that focus on plan review and compliance, and qualify for 200 CEC points. This day long course carries 8 hours of NYSDOS In-Service Learning Credits.
